Lost within the bottle

No light shines through the darkness the pain of life in the bottle. There is light above that is not visible to sunken eyes that long to see the sun. Lost to all those that love, feelings numb. "Cast out my demons," he cries as another sip reaches his lips.

The creature staggered forwards, shaking and shuddering with inhuman spasms, lurching slowly but inexorably forward as I stood rooted by fear. It soon stood over me, its face twisted in an unnatural grimace as its foul maw opened and asked politely "Excuse me, may I trouble you for some brains?"

After days of tramping over rough country roads, the traveller reached a dark forest, the only light coming through the tangled branches reaching above him as far as he could see. He never saw the beast that slunk out from between the trunks. All they found was his walking stick.
